Hi Allison,
I just bought some cheese from your store and forgot to ask the cheesemonger how best to send it in the mail. It’s all hard cheese.
What do you suggest? Thanks!
Thanks for the cheese question!
For shipment, first off, definitely keep all cheeses in the cheesepaper you were originally given at Fromagination. That’s a special paper specifically designed to lengthen cheeses’ "lifespan." Because of the increasing temperatures, I would try to pack the shipping box with one or two of those "colder than ice" ice packs. I would also inform the gift recipient about the arriving cheese, just in case it’s possible to get the shipment into a fridge as soon as possible after it arrives (rather than it sitting on a porch in the outdoor heat).
Other than that, you are good to go on shipping. Because you chose hard cheeses (always the better option for shipping), you don’t need to worry about the cheese deteriorating as fast as you would with softer options. Make sure to tell your recipient that if he/she experiences any discoloration or mold on the cheeses as time goes by, just scrape it off and enjoy the remainder. It’s all good!
Thanks for your question. Hope to see you again soon!
